WAM BACKGROUND

Hi, I am WAM (William A. McBride) though you can call me Bill. WAM Architectural Illustration is a one person firm located in the central part of Kansas City in the neighborhood of Brookside. As both a licensed architect and a watercolorist, I have been operating WAM Architectural Illustration now for more than 9 years.

It is my goal to be open and flexible to meet the varying needs of my clients. Working with over 75 clients such as architects, owners, developers, engineers, and design professionals and having done over 750 illustrations from sketch to finished watercolor, I have found that keeping the client involved during the illustration process is critical to the success of a rendering whether it be a simple black & white sketch or a finished watercolor.

Before starting WAM, I worked with International Architects Atelier (IAA), a Kansas City architectural firm, for about 2.5 years as a project architect. There I finished my architectural internship and became a Registered Architect in the State of Missouri. Prior to working for IAA, I illustrated for Dick Sneary, a nationally known illustrator located in Kansas City. I was with him for about 2.5 years involved with a wide range of illustration tasks from perspective generating to watercoloring. These experiences, along with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Kansas, have given me a firm foundation in both the understanding of Architecture and Illustration.
